Bio

Gisele earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) in 2005, followed by a specialization in Public Law in 2007. She completed her Master’s in 2008 and her Ph.D. in 2015, both in the field of General Theory of Jurisdiction and Procedure at PUCRS. In 2019, Dr. Welsch conducted post-doctoral research at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg in Germany.

With 20 years of experience, Dr. Welsch has practiced in civil litigation across all judicial instances, with a strong focus on complex matter before the Superior Courts in Brasilia. She is also an accomplished author, having published several works, including “O Reexame Necessário e a Efetividade da Tutela Jurisdicional” (2010), “Legitimação Democrática do Poder Judiciário no Novo CPC” (2016), and “Precedentes Judiciais e Unidade do Direito: análise comparada Brasil-Alemanha” (2021), and is frequently invited as speaker in conferences organized by the Brazilian Superior Court of Justice. She also teaches civil procedure law at IDP in Brasilia.
